Retaining Mature Experience
"I would like to keep on working, but on my terms" is an increasingly frequent comment I get from mature workers who are considering their imminent transition to a life after fulltime work.
The experience, wisdom and insight· of mature-aged workers keeps on growing. It's just their reasons for working that are changing. There are features of their working life they still love and want to continue. But there is a major shift taking place regarding what it means to enjoy life. Other interests, plans, passions and dreams are starting to come to the fore.
They are starting to see life - including work - differently.· A fact that employers have to recognize if they want to retain access to highly valuable, irreplaceable mature experience and expertise.
Many employers/senior executives are themselves approaching the age where tradition once decreed we should retire, with all the negatives that has in the past entailed.
The core issue is one of lifestyle changes and that is where my personal and professional experience, expertise, insight and perhaps even wisdom can be of significant help. ·
