Rarely now do we see a person leave work on Friday and then start a life away from work on Monday. The changeover can be gradual, stretching for years sometimes, with the employee being encouraged to choose from a range of options, including
Retirement has changed. It is now just one of a series of life adjustments that people start considering from about age 40 onwards. They realize the clock is ticking and their remaining lifespan is increasingly uncertain. As they pass the age of 50 a sense of urgency begins to take over. By the time they reach what has traditionally been known as retirement age (around 60-65 years), people are feeling that perhaps this is their last big chance to find and enjoy the life of their dreams. There is plenty of advice available to help people decide how to best invest their money in retirement. There is precious little help available on how people are going to invest in themselves in their remaining years. |
