"MAKING LIFE WORK" THOUGHTS

Motivational thoughts for the working environment

Here's a couple of my recent Thoughts. If you wish to subscribe for future Thoughts, simply click on the button on the right-hand side of this page.

Missed Opportunities

Missed opportunities are a source of disappointment. So often you wish you could hit life's reverse/replay button. But you can't. It's consigned to history.

But like the missed bus, there'll be another opportunity along soon. Decide you are going to stay aware of and alert for the life-expanding potential of any future opportunities when they are presented.

Of course, they aren't always immediately apparent. Dismiss nothing lightly, and consider the possibilities carefully. If it adds up, seize the day!

Whatever you decide, you know you're  less likely to bemoan a missed opportunity.

Engaged or Married?

Engaged seems to be the new 'in word' for happy workplaces. Engaged staff feel involved, accepted and respected as human beings, intrinsically motivated to express their natural talents, ideas, passions and skills. They feel energised rather than stressed.

It's a situation in which engaged is good and married is not. Being married to the job may seem wonderful to many people. But insidiously negative effects are taking place. They could finally surface in the form of illness, burnout, or relationship breakdowns. You are very likely to eventually experience the deep pains of divorce - when your job unexpectedly leaves you!

It's good to be engaged in your work but don't get married to your job.

In keeping with the philosophy of Work Leisure, "MAKING LIFE WORK" Thoughts are

  • Brief
  • Easy to absorb - they take up so little of your busy work time
  • Practical
  • Reminders, more than new information
  • Empowering

Every great action begins with a thought.
